The Old World is long dead and forgotten. Will you collapse too?
Iron Hive is a deck building strategy game about surviving in a dying world. Build your colony, ensure the survival of your people, create a legacy that will be passed on to the next generations. As the Ironlord, you are their only remaining hope.
Influenced by classics like Frostpunk and the RPG board game The Quiet Year, Iron Hive invites players to lead a colony of survivors in a dystopian world infused with mysticism, faith, cataclysms, and mysteries within a hostile atmosphere. It takes resilience, strategy, courage, resources, and a bit of luck to keep the Hive alive for as long as possible.
I worked on the initial development of the game, creating the Fantasy Design Document (FDD) and contributing to the ideation, creation, and definition of key elements such as the worldbuilding, event system, QTEs, creatures, factions, types of POIs (Points of Interest), as well as the world exploration mechanics and potential systems for voting (within the Hive) and trade. Some of the content I developed was incorporated into the current version of the game, while other parts were deprecated.

Doctor Ox and the Dark Fracture
During the last days of the old world, one of the research fronts that could enable the salvation of humanity was Doctor Ox's. The scientist created a machine able to open a pathway to other worlds, enabling the exploration of other planets more quickly and safely than through space travel.
Billionaires placed their bets while Governments waged endless wars, drawing ever closer to complete downfall. When the machine's first practical tests started, the results were disastrous, with infrastructure and energy being huge issues. The third test was the last hope, as there would be no chance for a fourth - and at last, The Machine powered on, stabilized, and began the process of opening a Fracture in space-time...

Legacy And The Book Of Ashes
The Books of Ashes records the legacy of a people, their rights and wrongs, and serve as guidance so that future generations will not repeat the same mistakes. As Ironlord, your greatest achievement is to build a proud and inspiring Legacy, something that is worth to be remembered forever. This is certainly a challenging task, but totally possible and controlled by your actions, choices and maybe by fate.
What will be the final page of your history?
Leave a legacy in the Book of Ashes or vanish in the breezes of oblivion.

"Today we pray within IRON HIVE.
Amidst ruins we still thrive
The winter left us little hope
Our only fuel is a will to survive"
